Placerville Art on Parade began in early 2005 with the formation of the Placerville Art on Parade Committee. The committee decided to focus the art efforts that first year on wheelbarrows, since wheelbarrows had historic significance for Placerville—John M. Studebaker began his career in Placerville making wheelbarrows for miners. Placerville’s 2005 Wheelbarrows on Parade was a great success with 28 artistic wheelbarrows created by artists in the community, sponsored by local businesses in the community and displayed on Main Street in Placerville, California during the summer of 2005.
